Dr. Sarah Briston

Senior Project Manager

BIO

Sarah obtained a BSc in Pharmacology with Industrial Experience at the University of Manchester, with a year spent performing research in the Cardiovascular Department at Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany. She then completed a PhD at the University of Manchester funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) for research that examined calcium channel and transporter expression in human stem cells with respect to the generation of insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells. Sarah then moved to the Cardiac Physiology Group to undertake several postdoctoral researcher positions with Profs Andrew Trafford and David Eisner. Her work involved identifying the molecular and electrophysiological properties of the heart and how these are affected by disease processes, such as heart failure. Other projects involved understanding the mechanisms of arrhythmia generation.

Sarah joined the Nanomedicine Lab in October 2019 as the Project Manager of the EPSRC-funded 2D-Health Programme Grant. Since 2021 she is overseeing all major funding programmes in the Nanomedicine Lab as the Senior Project Manager.
