World first-in-human graphene medical device clinical trial launched

After more than a decade of consistent R&D collaborative work, particularly with the Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group and INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, the world’s first clinical trial of any graphene medical device in a human patient has been launched. Our close clinical collaborator, neurosurgeon Dr David Coope is the Chief Clinical Investigator of the clincial trial called CORDOBA (ClinicalTrials.gov ID NCT06368310).

The trial will use the graphene-based flexible neural probes during surgical resection (removal) of a brain tumour, to allow neurosurgeons perform more precise resections by accurately monitoring brain activity and helping to distinguish between cancerous and healthy tissue.
