Ms. Vania Papantoniou
MSc Student
BIO
Vania obtained a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science at the University of Patras, Greece, in 2024. During her Bachelor studies she conducted an Erasmus internship, at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), where she participated in the preparation and development of the organic synthesis of substituted anilines complexes for the cyclization of intermolecular structures, of gold(I) carbene intermediates and of new green catalysts more suitable for health and materials science applications. In her final year, she performed her final research project in the Nanochemistry Group, at the Department of Materials Science, at the University of Patras, and focused on the preparation and development of innovative biochar based electrodes for the denitrification of drinking water.
In 2024, she started her MSc in Advanced Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She joined the Nanomedicine Lab in December 2024 as a Master Student, to perform her master thesis, which involved the physicochemical characterization of 2D graphene materials, mainly graphene oxide (GO) and the non-covalent complexation and optimization of GO with various biomolecule complexes.
