BIO
Sonja completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience (B.Sc (Hons)) at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), where she was a part of setting up the inaugural fly laboratory during her dissertation. Following this, also at UCLan, she completed her MRes degree in Neuroscience and graduated with a distinction in January 2022. Her Master’s thesis involved investigating the neurological mechanisms of an anti-social personality disorder (ASPD) mouse model. In particular, she investigated both astrocytes and neurons in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus and how they relate to oxidative stress. In June 2022, Sonja joined the Nanomedicine Lab working as a Research Assistant in the NanoInflammation team investigating the potential health risks micro/nano plastics and 2D nano materials pose.
