Dr. Livia Crica

PhD Student

BIO

Livia obtained her MSc in Biomedical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania. Her dissertation focused on developing and characterizing graphene oxide based polymeric scaffolds for bone regeneration and enhancing micro-CT contrast for low density polymers, which resulted in two different ISI publications. During her first year, Livia gained an EEA Grant scholarship for six months of training in Biomaterials Science at the University of Oslo, within the Biomaterials Department, Faculty of Dentistry. During her second year, she received a COST scholarship to spend two months at the University of Groningen (Department of Biomedical Engineering) and University of Amsterdam (Academic Medical Center), The Netherlands, where she received training in Microbiology.

After being offered a 4-year PhD studentship at the University of Manchester within the Graphene NOWNANO Centre for Doctoral Training (2016 cohort), Livia joined the Nanomedicine Lab in September 2016 to study the protein corona formation on graphene-based materials.
