BIO
Lana obtained her 5-year Diploma in Chemical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2016 with distinction. She was awarded the Honorary Award of Excellence by the General Assembly of the Chemical Engineering Department for her academic performance. During her final academic year she was involved in two research projects, her dissertation and a group project, which were both distinguished. The aim of her dissertation was the isolation of phenolic compounds from methanolic extracts of Hippophae rhamnoides L. by adsorption. The aim of the group project, which was entitled “Ethylbenzene Plant Design”, was the complete and successful design of an ethylbenzene industrial plant, as well as the economic analysis of it, in order to draw conclusions about its viability and sustainability. Lana joined the Nanomedicine Lab at the University of Manchester as a Visiting Researcher in January 2017 to gain valuable experience in Nanotechnology and particularly to study the protein corona formation on lipid-based nanomaterials. She is now a full-time PhD student at the Nanomedicine Lab working on protein biomarkers discovery and validation for several diseases utilising nanoparticle corona.
